Generally, behavioral therapies are the first choice; because they are noninvasive and have no side effects, they are the safest. A variety of medical treatments are available. Surgery is usually reserved for people whose problem does not improve with behavioral and medical therapy.

Self-Care at Home

1.Keep away from foods and drinks that may irritate the bladder. These comprise alcohol, caffeine, carbonated drinks, chocolate, citrus fruits, and acidic fruits and juices.

2.Do not drink too much fluid; 6-8 cups a day is adequate, but you may need more if you are exercising, sweating a lot, or the weather is hot.
