Bleach Box Set 7: Gearing Up For The Smack Down

The 7th box set of Bleach will be hitting stands next week

, and I don't know about you, but I'm really excited about it. Box set number 7 contains episodes 122-133. It finishes up season 6 and starts up season 7, not that seasons mean anything in Bleach. They all kind of run into each other story-wise without any obvious plot breaks so please don't worry about the meshing of two seasons in one box set.

The collection starts with Ichigo realizing that if he wants to take on the series' Big Bad, Aizen, he's going to need to get in touch with his own scary dark side. Since he's had horrible success of doing that and keeping control of his Hollow-self in the past, he decides to seek out tutors, showing that he is indeed a bright young man underneath that ditzy exterior. He finds the Visoreds, ex-Soul Reapers who seem to have been cast out of Soul Society because they chose to learn how to control their hollow-selves and use them in battle. They turn out to be a very strange and colorful crew, what we've come to expect out of the cast of Bleach. Poor Ichigo.

While Ichigo is busy training himself to go storm the gates of Aizen's sanctuary, Hueco Mundo, his friends are also busy preparing themselves for the big battle that will devour the plot of the rest of the series from hence forth. There are also some party crashers from both Soul Society and Hueco Mundo to either keep an eye on our crew or to try to destroy them respectively. Orihime also features prominently and is set up to be the catalyst for things to come. Look forward to box set 8, you all!

If you're selective in which box sets you pick up of a series- because you want only plot episodes and no filler arcs, ect.- you really ought to pick up box set 7! It's almost all plot based off the manga storyline (There are two or so filler eps at the very end) and introduces events that will be relevant and necessary to know about when the show really gets into the heavy stuff. This is set up, but it's set up for something big and you really do need to know what's going on or else you are going to be really confused when the gang are in Hueco Mundo and running around in a panic.

Plus there is a bit of Grimmjow in the beginning. Who doesn't love a bit of Grimmjow time? Oh, and Hitsugaya, Rangiku and Urahara fans will be very pleased with this box set as well. Hitsugaya and Rangiku get their own little filler story in fact and it's actually fun!
