. The two most popular types of plastic packing are clamshell packaging and blister packaging. Clamshell and blister packaging are the most popular plastic packaging partially because of the visibility it give to the product. Packing a product in clamshell packaging means that plastic is put into layers to form a protective bubble for the product. Because it is a plastic package it is very transparent so that the product details can be seen clearly. Some types of clamshell blister packaging are very anti theft as well as transparent. Clamshell packaging is used widely for the transparency feature because it allows the customer to see the product without having to open it. It is especially convenient to package electronics and kids toys in clamshell packaging. Food product and some fruit is also put into clamshell packaging because it keeps it fresh. The type of plastic packaging that can be more protective is in the clamshell blister packaging category.

Another kind of clamshell packaging is called blister packaging. Blister packaging provides transparency as well but also offers a more durable packaging. The two parts of blister packaging are the cavity and the blister card. Blister packaging uses cardboard blister cards that are sealed to the plastic giving both product visibility and theft protection. The product is sealed in the plastic cavity using the blister card, creating the blister packaging type.

The blister packaging cars are made from multiple materials including foil,plastic and cardboard(which can be printed with product information). An adhesive is made on the card through a process of heat sealing, and the card is then attached to the plastic cavity. The heat sealing process makes the adhesive strong enough that the product can be hung on a peg and the blister packaging will remain intact. Even though it will remain intact on a peg it can be easily opened if you remove the blister card off of the blister packaging. The blister packaging is usually used for light weight products and the original clamshell packaging is reserved for heavier items.

The two types of clamshell blister packaging are sealing blister packaging and sliding blister packaging.The sliding blister packaging is less tamper proof than the sealed blister packaging. The sliding blister packaging has sides that are bent so the product can be taken out and then returned to the original package. This way the customer can open the package and view the product without damaging the packaging. Sealed blister packing completely seals the sides of the plastic around the product. It is still plastic, so its transparent, but much less easy to take the product out. In order to get the product out the customer must completely open the blister packaging. This makes the sealed blister packaging a one time use packaging, and therefore it is typically used for higher theft products

Blister packaging is used from pharmaceuticals to kids toys, and many things in between. The clamshell blister packaing is ideal because of the product visibility it offers and because of this the product will sell better. And if the item sells, and can be protected(even very much so with the sealed blister packaging), it is the perfect packaging for retailers and customers alike.
