Blogger Vs Wordpress - Which is better for you?
When I was looking into create a blog, I had many options
. But I narrowed it down to two: blogger (aka blogspot) and wordpress. Why these two??? Because they are the most popular and most importantly they are seo friendly - which means that search engines can easily search through them and show them in their search results.
Although there are a lot of debates about which is better, I didn't care because I just wanted a blog that I can use to communicate with my clients and readers. At the end of the day I just wanted a blog that is easy to use, will allow me to do what I want to do, and most importantly my clients and readers can easy navigate through without any problems.
I figure I would give blogger a try. So, I create account with them which was free. That was cool!!! Being that I didn't know much about blogging, this was perfect for me. This way I could test out how this blogging thing worked. Once I got an account, blogger created a url (http://kumarphotography.blogspot.com) for me. Now I was ready to blog. I found that blogger gave me standard text editor (which gave me some html coding ability - see below) to start posting.
With blogger, not only I could add text to my post but pictures as well. The best part about the pictures was that blogger would host (save) those pictures on its server. I could have store over million pictures and didn't have to worry about a thing.
There were other things I liked about blogger. One, was I was able to add youtube videos, if I wanted. Second, blogger gave me some standard themes (look and feel of the blog) that I could pick from. Another was I could add extra links on the right sides, if I wanted to. I get to pick if I wanted to people to leave comments on my post(s). I was really getting good at this blogging thing. So, good that I figure I would give wordpress a try.
I had install wordpress on my own site. The installation was so simple that even a cave man could do it (sounds like geico commercial). After installing the wordprerss, I found that it's an open source system. Meaning, all the updates are always FREE!!! Not to mention the fact that it has truck load of addons that I could use for FREE. For example, it has advance html editor (similar to Microsoft Word see below) with spell check.
Also, there are numerous themes and plugins: rating system (give my readers' ability to rate my posts), social networking link display (facebook, twitter, myspace, and so on), seo and many more.
My favorite blogging system is DEFINETLY wordpress because it has everything that blogger has and then some more.
