Blogging For Profit- How Do You Promote Your Wordpress Blog To Generate Traffic?

You may have heard about using blog marketing to promote your business or even yourself

. But how do you get traffic to your blog. I will outline some of the most common strategies used.

There is just a brief overview on article marketing by the way. To explain this strategy fully would at least take a few more articles. But this article will be very helpful in pointing you in the right direction. So you don't have to go through the trial and error yourself.

Ping your blog Ping your blog to let all the blog directories and sites out there know about your blog. If you search "ping blog" in Google you can submit your site via services like: PingMyBlog.com and PingOMatic.com.

But if you use Wordpress.com to create your blog they already have a built in service to do this.

Build a Sitemap Use this plugin to build a sitemap for your blog. This way it is easier for search engines to find and index your blog. To install the plugin, go to the plugins section in the admin area of the blog and search for "Google XML Sitemap".

Promote your blog with articles Article marketing is a great way to promote your blog...it doesn't cost anything (if you write the articles yourself) and it's a constant stream of free traffic to your blog.

If you are writing content for your blog anyway, you can redo this content slightly and submit it to article directories. There are many of these high traffic directories that will publish your article.

You'll get traffic from article directories as well as search engines who include your article in their search results. I'd write articles between 400-450 words to make sure that most article directories accept your articles. You can also build your credibility online as someone "in the know" on your topic.

What results can you expect? Pinging your blog and submitting the sitemap alone usually won't get you much traffic...i thought i'd mention it is talked about a lot for building traffic. I think they are good to get your blog indexed in the search engines but not so much for traffic.

If you write articles and submit them to article directories on a regular basis, this traffic can really build up to hundreds of visits per day. It will take a lot of work (sometimes 50-100 articles). But it is well worth it in the long run.
