Blogging: Use Article Marketing To Get Blog Traffic

You've decided you want to start blogging. So you've built your first blog and made your first posts. But you don't have any visitors. What do you do? It's actually simple to begin getting blog traffic. You just have to promote your blog, and be persistent about it. Article marketing is a very effective method for this.

If you are not familiar with article marketing, it's just writing articles and posting them into article directories and Web 2.0 sites. The articles you submit have links to your blog. People read the articles and click through to visit your blog. But in addition to that, each article gives you a backlink to your blog. Backlinks are a very important factor in search engine optimization (SEO), which determines your place in the search engine results.

Here are three things to keep in mind about article marketing.

1. Consistency is important. Create a schedule for writing and posting your articles. Marketing is an ongoing process; you have to be persistent. While it's true that one article can bring visitors to your blog, you'll have greater success with more articles. The more articles you have posted, the more visitors will come to your blog.

As you wait for the traffic to come, be patient. This is not paid advertising, which is the only way to get immediate results. But remember, paid advertising is costly, and the visitors stop coming when you stop paying. Article marketing takes longer to see results, but is a better long-term strategy. As long as your articles are on the web, they will bring traffic to your blog.

2. Use a keyword tool to find high traffic keywords to include in your articles. Your blog's visitors will find you via the search engines, so it's important to include keywords in your articles. Keywords are those words which people type into a search engine query box to find you.

3. Article marketing is cumulative, so you'll see the most results over time. Your results with article marketing will vary -- you may get an immediate rush of traffic, or you may not. However, over time you will get a steady increase in traffic, depending on how many articles you post.

Think of your article marketing traffic as a snowball, rolling downhill, and getting bigger as it rolls. As you write and post more articles to the directories, your presence will grow -- your snowball will get bigger and bigger.

Keep all three of these points in mind while blogging. Using article marketing correctly will help you build a solid base, and allow your blog traffic to increase over time.
