Blue & Silver Nokia X6 Orange Exclusive
The latest Nokia music phone has now been launched under the new X-Series name
. The Nokia X6 has taken an unusual route to market compared with previous Nokia models as it has initially been released in its Silver and Blue colour scheme, which ordinarily would follow the standard Red and Black edition, which seems to always be launched first. This may have something to do with the new Nokia X6 being released as a network and retailer exclusive. This new music orientated phone is only available on the Orange network from certain retailers for its initial launch period which can last up to three months. That said, it seems the retailers are not taking too much advantage from the situation as they are already offering the Blue and Silver Nokia X6 from free on the Orange Dolphon 30 tariff. This costs 30 line rental per month and provides 600 inclusive minutes of calls to any network or UK landline as well as unlimited text messages (subject to a fair usage policy) every month. Unusually, there are no free gift packages available in this exclusive launch period. This is obviously to keep margins high on this new handset and its where the retailers will make more money, where free gifts are offered with mobile phones it is the extra commission from the network that the retailer is using to subsidise the cost of the gift, in this instance with the Nokia X6 on Orange the retailer makes more commission when consumers sign up to the higher cost tariffs. That said, the Nokia X6 is a great little phone, featuring the same 3.2 inch touch screen display as the recently released Nokia N97 Mini and coming with a 5.0 mega pixel camera including Carl Ziess optics and a massive expandable memory up to 32GB this is a multimedia lovers dream phone. To make things just that little bit more attractive, the Nokia X6 also comes with the 'Comes with Music' service allowing for free music tracks for the first 12 months which the user can keep after this time and never pay for. Other interesting features of this new music phone include fast internet downloads thanks to HSDPA, WiFi for connecting on the move, GPS for turn by turn navigation and access to the Nokia Ovi store where users can download loads of new mobile content including videos, movie trailers and applications. The Nokia X6 carries on where the Nokia 5800 left off, other new handsets worth considering would be the Nokia N97 Mini if you fancy an extra slide out Qwerty keyboard, the recently launched Nokia 5230 if you're on a tighter budget, the Nokia N900 if you can splash out a bit more for the very latest technology or the
Nokia E72 if you are not fussed about free music but do want that a phone that keeps you connected with fast text input. The Nokia X6 is expected to be released on further networks as soon as this exclusive launch period has finished as well as in its other colour scheme, the Red and Black edition.
