Body Builders Need The Right Approach
There is a real stereotype that surrounds people who take body building seriously
. The stereotype is that of people who cover their bodies in oil, grow their muscles to almost obscene proportions and then do no thing but lift half ton weights over and over again. This stereotype is not completely wrong. There are some individuals who choose to live that lifestyle. A professional body builder, for example, is usually given money and endorsements for the effort he puts into building his muscles up to outrageous sizes. Obviously there are other reasons to start body building. Getting healthier should be your main goal if you start body building. Body building is a wonderful way to exercise. If you are just starting to body build, here is the correct mindset for the sport.
Learn how to breathe the right way. Breathing right is important in body building. Holding your breath is not a good idea. Oxygen is important for keeping muscles healthy so you want to take in as much as you can. You are going to want your diaphragm to be the focal point of your breathing, not your lungs. Breathing with your lungs makes it harder to work the muscles in your chest because your chest will be expanded as you breathe. When you breathe from your diaphragm you get the same amount of oxygen without expanding your chest.
Set reachable goals for yourself. Don't try to get super ripped super fast. Focus on goals that don't work against your health. Being able to meet your goals will help keep your motivation levels high.
When you meet your goals and succeed at your tasks then you can set your next goals. Setting goals by steps will help your focus and keep you from trying to take shortcuts that will risk your health. Always remember: your muscles need to be strong before they can be built. If you try to build too quickly you could hurt yourself or get discouraged when you don't see the results you want as quickly as you want to see them.
Before every workout you need to do a total warm up. Stretch out your muscles before you start lifting or doing other forms of exercise. When you warm up your muscles they are less likely to tear or get injured later on. Warmed up muscles are easier to exercise and work on than muscles that are "cold". Cold muscles are stiff and resistant to strain. Warm muscles will be loose and are more prepared for the strains of exercising. You don't need to do an extensive or long warm up; you only need to do enough so that you are satisfied that each of your muscles have been stretched and are loose.
Body building has taken on an almost negative stereotype over the last few decades. This is sad because body building is a legitimate type of exercise and is a fantastic way to exercise and build up your health and strength. If you want to get healthier you will need to get regular exercise, period. Your muscles (and the rest of your body) need to be worked out and used regularly if you want them to stay healthy and help keep you fit.
