THE HEART OF OLD LAS VEGAS

Straight off Las Vegas Boulevard, on Fremont Street, is the heart of old Las Vegas, also known as Downtown Las Vegas. The Fremont Street Experience which was established in 1995 has since drawn visitors to this older part of the city and revived interest in the city's history. The Neonopolis, on the corner of Fremont Street and Las Vegas Boulevard also brings visitors to Downtown Las Vegas. Vegas Vic, a giant neon cowboy, used to greet visitors to Downtown Las Vegas with an obstreperous "howdy partner!" until an actor filming there complained about the noise and silenced his boisterous welcome for more than 20 years. While many of the Downtown Las Vegas Hotels are no longer in operation, many still continue to live to this day, and visitors who want to gamble straight ahead and enjoy a vintage Vegas experience flock to places such as Binion's Horseshoe. The El Cortez is also one of the remaining downtown Las Vegas hotels and should not be missed. Golden Gate Hotel's shrimp cocktails started a Las Vegas tradition nearly 50 years ago, and it is still named Best of Las Vegas year after year.

TRANSPORTATION IN LAS VEGAS

Today, Las Vegas transportation is much more than just taxi cabs and rental sedans; it means seeing and being seen. Taxi drivers are not allowed to pick up passengers off the street; you must call a cab company to arrange for pick-up or go to a taxi stand outside a hotel. Shuttles are located outside the baggage claim area at the McCarran International Airport to take you from the airport to your hotel. Enjoy Vegas as a true VIP, and forget about being chauffeured around in a taxi; you are here to enjoy yourself and what better way to do it than in a limousine. If you are low on cash and are looking for an affordable way to see Sin City, check out some of the rental car companies located at the airport. The Land Yacht, a Las Vegas Party Bus, is complete with a dance floor and cosmo stripper pole which offers space for an abundance of exotic frolicking and dancing. Reaching speeds of up to 50 mph, the Las Vegas Monorail takes you from one end of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip to the other, with seven stops in total, in just 15 minutes.

Las Vegas, famous for its nightlife, is one of the most fascinating places to see after dark.
