Boredom Busters For Rainy Days

Waking up on a rainy day can be a real downer on children

. To avoid disappointing children who would rather be playing outside, have a few activities on hand to keep children happy. Here are a few ways to avoid having boredom set in your home.

1. Take a trip to the library. Sometimes just a change of scenery can help lighten the mood. Children can find books that they would like to check out and read at home, and can even read a few books there if you have time.

2. Choose educational videos for your children to watch. If your child is bent on watching a movie or playing video games, choose a fun educational ones. They can be found online or at most department stores. Children will appreciate a fun movie to watch, and parents will be happy because there is educational backing to it.

3. Make an idea box for future rainy days that may come this spring. Children can decorate a tissue box with decorative paper and markers. Then they can put in pieces of paper with ideas and activities they would like to do on rainy days when they cannot play outside.

4. Play tea party. This is a fun time to dress up in fun outfits. Poodle skirts or other costumes can come in handy during this time. Poodle skirts can be made in both children's poodle skirts or adult poodle skirts so children and mom can dress up together.

5. Play board games. Board games can also be educational for children. A great game for younger children is boggle junior or puzzles.

6. Play "reverse writing". This game will challenge older children to write a sentence backwards. After they have written the sentence you bring it to the mirror and they can see how well they did. This entertained our son for almost two hours one day.

7. Make cookies together. Children can help you get out ingredients, and help you put them away. When the cookies are out of the oven you can cuddle up with a blanket on the couch together and eat cookies while watching the rain out the window.
