Boston Nissan Recommends Keeping an Emergency Kit In Your Car

You never know what might happen when you slide behind the wheel of your Nissan

, so Boston Nissan recommends that you keep an emergency kit in your car at all times to prepare for the unexpected. Your used or new Nissan will have more than enough room in the trunk to keep your emergency kit handy for anything you might come up against. A car emergency kit should have more than your standard first aid kit. Here are some ideas for what to put in your car's emergency kit:

Keep the Following in Your Emergency Kit All Year Round:

Flashlight and batteries

Road flares

Emergency sign for your window

Jumper cables

Small tool kit

Scissors

Knife

First aid kit (bandages, burn ointment, gauze, tweezers, cleansing wipes)

Fuses that fit your Nissan

Car fluids: windshield washer fluid, transmission fluid, jug of water, brake fluids and antifreeze

Add the Following to Your Emergency Kit in the Winter:

Small bag of kitty litter for gaining traction on ice and snow

Collapsible snow shovel

De-icer

Windshield ice scraper

Blanket

Socks

Gloves

If you're taking your new or used Nissan on a long road trip or through areas you're unfamiliar with, you may also want to include additional emergency items just in case your cell phone doesn't work!

United States Atlas (if you don't have GPS!)

Non-perishable foods, can opener, plastic fork, knife and spoon

Toilet paper

Change of clothes, including extra socks to keep feet warm in the event of winter weather, warm winter hat
