Botox Sydney

Botox is a drug made from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum

. It's the same toxin that causes a life-threatening type of food poisoning called botulism. Botox injections work by weakening or paralyzing certain muscles or by blocking certain nerves. The effects last about three to four months. Side effects can include pain at the injection site, flu-like symptoms, headache and upset stomach. Injections in the face may also cause temporary drooping eyelids. You should not use Botox if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Botox was introduced to the world in the late 1980s by ophthalmologists, who began using it to treat optic muscle disorders. It was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in 2002, and its popularity has soared ever since. Botox Sydney is consistently one of the top five nonsurgical cosmetic procedures performed each year. Botox essentially paralyzes the muscles and stops them from contracting. Results are visible within one week after treatment and remain for a minimum of three months. Some surgeons suggest that Zytaze, a new prescription zinc supplement, can extend these results if taken in the days leading up to your Botox injections. Ask your doctor about Zytaze before your next Botox injection. Botox should only be injected with sterile instruments in a doctor's office or a medical spa not at Botox parties at your local nail salon or neighbors living room. Botox injection is usually performed with some local anesthesia or a numbing cream. You may feel some minimal discomfort from the shot, but todays needles are so thin and fine that the procedure is often painless. Depending on the extent of treatment, the procedure can take anywhere from a few minutes to 20 minutes.

Selecting the correct injection points is critical to the success of the procedure. These points are first scored with a marking pencil. Your doctor will likely select numerous injection points for each location to be treated. (These points are located where the muscle contracts not necessarily at the wrinkle you are hoping to erase.) The Botox filler is then injected into the marked points beneath the skin.

You can resume normal activities immediately, but your doctor may advise you to stay out of the sun. This safe, straightforward treatment can leave your face sleek and soft after just one treatment.

The effects are remarkable and last for several months after treatment. Using high SPF sun cream to protect your skin from sun damage complements the benefits of Botox Sydney treatment, leaving you looking younger for longer.
