Bottled Mineral Water And Some Of Its Differences

Looking at some of the differences in quality and taste of most of the bottled mineral

water on the store shelves today, there are a plethora of names and locations that the mineral water has come from. There is also a difference in the types and amounts of the minerals that are added to different products. Americans drank nearly as much bottled mineral water as beer last year! If the growth trend continues, Americans could be drinking more bottled water than that from a tap within a few years. This is a staggering number but it is true never the less.

Some drinking water sources available to North Americans may contain high levels of Ca2+, Mg2+, and Na+ and may provide clinically important portions of the recommended dietary consumption of these minerals. Physicians should encourage patients to check the mineral content of their drinking water, whether tap or bottled, and choose the products that are the most appropriate for their needs. This can help if there is a need for the body to have more of a different type of mineral that the other.

Significant differences exist between North American and European standards regulating the bottled mineral water industry. For example, the sale of distilled water is allowed according to the United States Bottled Water Regulations. In contrast, the European Economic Community Mineral Water Regulations prohibit the processing and treatment of any water bottled from a source. The Food and Drug Administration requires that these products contain between 500 and 1,500 mg a liter of total dissolved solids, a combination of the dissolved minerals. In Europe, however, water with any level of mineralization is considered bottled mineral water.

Weather you are at home here in the United States of America or making a trip overseas there should be a bottled mineral water that will suit your needs wherever you go. The quality of every kind of water has been strictly tested here in the States, and before it is made available to the public these types of products go through taste tests on site to make sure they have consistency in the products. This is important to sales because if there is no consistency in the product then there is nothing to sell.

Looking to the future, there are many innovations in the bottled mineral water industry, Whether it is for an improved bottle design or for a design add on for the cap. The new and exciting way that manufactures can mold and extrude containers for bottled mineral water that you might find on grocery store shelves is new.
