Bowen Therapy: Something To Know
There is chiropractic, there is massage, and there is this thing that is similar to both
, boasting more benefits than the two combined, but is neither chiropractic (it is much gentler) or massage (it is much more subtle).
What it is, is Bowen Therapy or Bowenwork, a healing modality that operates much like plucking the harp strings of the body (tendons) that resonate harmonically like a prayer to the heavens (the brain) to bring down the angels (nerve impulses) of salvation (healing).
People have found Bowen Therapy to work solving long standing stubborn physical health problems even after everything else has failed, including medicine, surgery, massage, and chiropractic. Even so, very few people have heard of it, let alone know what it is.
It is a boon from the land down under, developed in the 1950's to evoke deep relaxation to renew the body's capacity for self-healing by Thomas Bowen (1916-1982) of Geelong, Australia.
In 1974, Thomas Bowen was doing over 13,000 Bowenwork treatments a year, with an 85% success rate treating patients where their health conditions were completely resolved. This statistic is from a survey of alternative health practitioners done by the Victorian Government.
A Bowen Therapist applies gentle rolling pressure with their fingers or thumbs on muscles, tendons and other soft tissues of the body. It can be done directly on the skin or through light-weight loose-fitting clothing. This movement stimulates the brain impulses to the body's autonomic nervous system to initiate healing responses.
The result is a balanced body and a balanced mind. People receiving treatment for a particular problem actually get a total improvement in overall health, both structurally and energetically.
Are you taut with tension? If you have been searching for relief, if you have ailments, if you have tried everything else to no avail, then you owe Bowen Therapy a try.
A Bowen Therapy session takes anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. You tell the Bowen Therapist what your complaints are so that the best moves to use can be determined. Bowenwork consists of a short series of moves followed by you being left alone a while to relax and allow your body to respond. The procedure is repeated around to the different parts of your body.
There are videos on the Internet that show you how it is done. If after that, you think you would like to give Bowen Therapy a try, look up on the Internet for a practitioner near you and have it done on yourself. Then see if you can feel the difference it has made for many happy people.
