My nephews have recently been in my care and it looks like it will be a long term thing at present
. My sister is in hospital and her partner has never been very reliable at the best of times and he's started to 'freak out' about the situation so the family on the whole thought it was in the best interest of the children to stay with my husband and I. We were always really close to them so they know us well but apart from that we're still reasonably young and we have our own business so we can be slightly more flexible with our time and we can provide for them better than the rest of the family.
Although the children have been amazing through the upheaval and I'm not normally one for bribery I did promise the children that if they behaved well in school and continued with good grades that they could have a big party for their birthday. Until their mother went into hospital they were doing so well at school I was very worried that if they didn't continue to keep there head down not only would they appreciate the situation with their mother more and start to worry but they'd also convert their energy the wrong way and become naughty and get out of the mind set of working. Truth be told I would have celebrated their birthday in style anyway but they weren't to know that so it's nice to see that it worked.
