Exercise is known to improve weight loss and body fat ratio. It is done to strengthen and increase the stability of the core and in the exercise the person will lay face on the mat. The person then props their upper body up on their elbows and raised their hips up off the mat as well so that the only points of contact to the mat are the elbows and the toes. With the entire body in a straight line hold the position for thirty seconds, repeat two to three times.

A typical class often begins with some warm up exercises and stretches. The warm up exercises often help strengthen and improve the core muscles. The core muscles are those muscles that are located around the torso and the pelvis.

The last part of class is usually sparring, often called rolling. These are not full blown fights and striking is not permitted during rolling. Two students pair up and starting on the floor mats they will try to apply techniques against each other.

Safety is always emphasized and students are careful not to hurt each other. Often a student is wanting to improve at a specific technique or position and that students rolling partner works with them to help them get better.

Brazilian jiu jitsu is a fun class that improves cardiovascular heath, strength and flexibility. It is also addictive fun and rewarding beyond the opportunity to earn rank in a belt system. Worth checking into.
