Welding or Brazing steel pieces can be easily done all by oneself. All you need to have is basic knowledge of brazing and metals. Mentioned below is the brazing procedure for stainless steel. Take a look and learn how to do the stainless steel brazing yourself:
Step 1
First of all remove all kinds of flammable items from the surrounding area and work surface. Then use a soapy damp cloth to wipe clean the work surface and clear all sorts of chemical residues left on it. Let it dry thoroughly.
Step 2
In the next step, wipe clean the steel pieces which need to be brazed. After that apply brazing flux on those pieces so that they can be melted and joined together.
Step 3
Erect a piece of brass plate with an approximate thickness of 1-inch onto the work surface. Secure it with the clamps so that it can absorb the excess heat emitting from the welding.
Step 4
Now, place the stainless pieces which needs to be brazed on the brass plate and turn on the flame through an oxy-acetylene torch. Then move the flame over the steel, among the two pieces which have to be joined, repeat it until the temperature is hot enough to make the steel surfaces melt. Make sure you keep moving the flame back and forth over the surfaces to avoid damaging steel.
Step 5
Finally, join both the steel pieces together tightly to make a weld and you are done with brazing stainless steel.
