Outpost Resort and Marina, recently announced the new competition offer which will award anyone breaking any world record in any line class for either permit or bonefish on fly or spinning rod, with a weeks holidays in the Bahamas for two staying at an all-inclusive resort. The new competition offer will be available throughout 2012 for anyone purchasing the special Fly Fishing Package at the hotel.

Located at the edge of the Gulf Stream, the exotic islands that comprise Bimini are a popular spot for holidaymakers planning Bahamas holidays. The fertile Bimini waters are home to more than 50 fishing world records including, marlin, tuna, swordfish and four world records for the popular bonefish and permit. Notably, 300 yards from the Big Game Club, Jerry Lavenstein along with guide Ansil Saunders caught a 16 pound, three ounce bonefish in 1971; a record setting accomplishment. The Big Game Club has challenged guests to break Lavensteins 40-year old record, if successful the winner will be rewarded with a complimentary seven night stay including air fare and airport transfers. The deal has been sweetened even further by the addition of a day on the water with Vaughn Cochran, popular fly fishing personality.

Comprised of a chain of islands, Bimini is the westernmost district of the Bahamas and has earned a reputation as the sport fishing capital of the world. Renowned author Earnest Hemmingway famously came to Bimini after learning of the incredible fishing opportunities available in the islands. Hemmingway stayed at the Compleat Angler Hotel from 1935 to 1937; making it one of the most popular Bahamas hotels and a tourist attraction in its own right. It is at this location Hemmingway is said to have penned To Have and Have Not; but mostly his time was spent fishing for marlin, tuna and swordfish on his boat Pilar.
