Breaking The Archery Speed Limit - Today's Compound Bows

The PSE X-Force series dominates the archery world as far as force and speed are concerned

Starting with the one with the lowest fps we have the PSE X-Force Vendetta XL. This one of today's compound bows which are built for speed. model has a feet per second (fps) speed of 328. In spite of that speed, the Vendetta, contrary to the perception that fast bows have rough draws, goes back and down smoothly and softly. First-time users might not even suspect it was a speed bow.

The model operates silently and does not jump forward after an arrow has been released. The model is also, uncharacteristically for fast bows, quite precise. The Omen has an advertised speed of 366- 358 fps which is plenty for any but the fastest game in the world. Naturally with a speed that approaches the currently recognized limit for double bows, the Omen may build up a little pressure during draws until it reaches the break-over point. Like the rest of the series, it is a quiet bow and is proofed against knocking and jerking

Past parallel split limbs minimize the jolt of this model. It is kept steady and vibration-less by Vibracheck backstop. Cable guard silencers prevent it making noise. Currently, the Omen is the fastest compound bow on the market.

The highest-priced of the X-Force series, the DreamSeason is the choice of archers who like speed in their shots. First you see the arrow on the DreamSeason then you see it embedded into the target. You won't see it hurtle through the air on account of its speed. It can go clean through targets and punch a hole at the back.

It is definitely too powerful for the conventional bowhunting archery range and people who own this model may need to practice in the open field. They should have pretty thick targets for the kind of punishment those are going to get from the DreamSeason.

Before the X-force technology, experts were unanimous that speed and control could never be combined in one compound bow. Additionally, it was contended that beyond 400 fps it would not be possible to go. However, since the X-Force made the scene, those opinions have to be altered. With the highest speed attainable in compound bows now 366 fps, it won't be long before the 400 fps ceiling no longer remains the ceiling.

The future prospects should make archery aficionados happy. But in the meantime, people should be sampling the performance of the PSE X-Force series.
