Breasts play a vital role in women life and they are asked to take good care of breasts

for whole of the life because they have different breast structure as compare to men after puberty. Prior to puberty breast structure is same in both males and females, but as a female reaches her puberty the ovaries of a female start producing the higher amounts of female sex hormone estrogen and progesterone and both these hormones are directly related to the growth and development of women breasts.

Breast Structure

A woman with fully developed breasts has 20 pairs of lobes that perform the function of producing milk at the time of pregnancy and each lobe contains lobules that can be defined as milk producing zone that contains a small tube called ductile and this ductile is linked to a wider tube called duct that ends onto the surface of nipple where milk comes through the ducts. There are almost 20 ducts in each nipple that bring milk from lobes to the nipple.

Lobes and ducts are not the only components of the breasts there are certain other components as well such as in between the lobules there are fatty and supporting tissues to maintain the shape of breasts as there is no presence of bones or muscles in this part of the body. Nipples of a woman are surrounded by a freckle that is called areola and the color of areola differs from woman to woman as the color of freckle can be dark brown or fleshy pink similarly the area covered by areola can differ from one woman to another so the areola can be so small that is not clearly visible and it can be large as well so these differences are natural and they dont come into the category of unusual changes.

Where Does Breast Cancer Develop?

Breast cancer can develop in any part of the breast and in which part cancer is developed it is called after that name as when it develops in the ducts it is called ductal carcinoma in this condition cancer cells grow only inside the ducts and it is known as precancerous condition as well because at this stage cancer is not spread to other parts of the body.

In most of the cases this type of cancer does not cause any lump to be formed and most of the times no warning signs are associated with this cancerous condition. It is possible at times that a small ump is formed in this condition and nipple discharge is often caused by this condition, however it Is not necessary that nipple discharge is only caused by the breast cancer as it can be due to the birth control pills or any other medication as well but it is essential to get it checked by the doctor to know the underlying reason.

Why Breast Exams Are Recommended?

Women are asked to go for regular breast exam as the exam can be personal, clinical or it can be breast screening as well, however screening is not suitable for women of all ages but it can help older women to catch the cancer at early stage when it can be easily managed by using a number of treatment options.
