Bridal Makeup Tips
Bridal makeup fashion or wedding makeup should be extra special and it needs to be well applied to last the whole day
. It absolutely must be done correctly and differs slightly from normal makeup application. Brides know that on their wedding day their makeup needs to be perfect as they will be photographed many times throughout the day and for this reason it should be long lasting and waterproof. Bridal makeup also needs to be distinctive enough to stand out without taking away from the bride herself or the wedding gown. It should also use slightly more color to compensate for the whiteness of the gown without being overboard and distracting.
Tips for Bridal Makeup and Getting the Look You Want:
No wedding makeup should be applied for the first time on the wedding day itself, most makeup consultants will offer a trial run where you can try out the different look to find one that suits you and will blend with your natural skin tone without looking radically different from your usual style.
It is a good idea for all the close members of the family (or friends) to also have a consultation, consider booking an appointment for your bridesmaids too, this way ensures that everybody will have individual (as in, suited to their own skin tones etc) style while keeping a general theme for the wedding party.
Unlike normal makeup application, bridal makeup needs to include slightly more color, this is make up for the lack of color in the wedding dress, it is a good idea to go for a timeless look for wedding makeup, trying out new of fashionable styles that you are not accustomed to can result in problems. If you choose a timeless look, your consultant will have plenty of experience creating classic makeup and will be able to advise you easily on the options available to you and the colors that would enhance your own features.
Tips for Applying Bridal Makeup:
All
makeup fashion application should be done in natural light
Prepare your skin with a good moisturizer the night before
Get plenty of sleep the night before to reduce darkness under the eyes and use a corrector or concealer to brighten any under eye darkness.
Cameras can pick up visible foundation lines so make sure to blend well, it is a good idea to practice with the foundation you use a few times beforehand.
Use powder to take the shine off your foundation as this also has a tendency to show up in photos.
Use blush to add a little color to the cheeks but be careful not to use too much as this could look red in your wedding photographs.
Avoid neutral colors for lips and eyes, this will give a washed out look against the whiteness of your wedding gown. Use matte eye shadow to avoid shine.
Very important use waterproof mascara, for obvious reasons.
Drink plenty of water so your skin is well hydrated for the big day, this will help to improve your skins condition, combined with a good moisturizer this will make your bridal
makeup fashion much easier to apply on the day.
Many brides to be spend weeks preparing their body and face for their wedding day but there are some things that should be avoided. One of the most common mistakes is fake tanning, if you want to add a little color you should start experimenting weeks beforehand, do not apply a new false tan a day or two before the wedding. Some of these tans can take a few days to develop and applying them so soon to the wedding could be a disaster. Instead you could try out a gradual self tan lotion, one that you apply daily that will build up a natural looking glow over many applications.
Another common mistake is false eyelashes or even false nails, unless you are very familiar with using these items, do not include them in your plans the last thing you want is a false eyelash coming loose or to lose a nail. If you use them often however and are confident that you know what you are doing and that you can keep them securely where they should be then you can choose to add them as part of your makeup.
A good alternative to false eyelashes is to simply use your makeup to emphasize your eyes by using an eyelash curler and quality mascara.
Bridal Makeup Artist:
Remember, this is your special day and the last thing you want to do on your wedding day is spend half the day in a restroom re-applying your bridal makeup or worrying that it is running, smudging etc. If you are not confident in makeup application, find a close friend or family member who is and ask them to be your makeup artist for the day. Take the time with your appointed artist to have a few trial runs in the weeks before to ensure that you are both happy with the results, this will also give you a good indication of how long it will take to get ready on the big day.
