The finished planks are available in a variety of lengths with tongue and groove milling and pillowed ends and edges. They are available in pine, walnut, oak, maple and hickory. The planks can be glued down, nailed, or floated to sub-floors.

Anderson Hardwood Floors is the parent company of Virginia Vintage. It was founded in the 1940s and run as a family business. The high speed cutting process introduced by the company produced high yields of their products.

In the 1950s, the company introduced a pre-finished plank floor as well as a parquet block. During the 1980s, it developed half inch thick pre-finished hardwood flooring that could be nailed down or glued. This made installation easier, quicker and more affordable. In the 1990s, the flooring range extended to include Southern Elm, Maple, Pecan, and Beech flooring.

Many flooring companies suffered in the 1970s when carpeting became the preferred choice. However, the public soon realized that carpeting was not as practical, long lasting or as easy to maintain as wooden floors. Wooden flooring soon started making a big comeback.

The Virginia Vintage collection has 25 varieties. These include Olde Paint Johns Island, Burlap Maple, Spicy Cider Hickory, and Sasparilla Brazilian Cherry. All are available in five inch planks and various widths.
