If you're looking for a fantastic place to head to on your next city break, look no further than Belgian city Brussels. While many of us think of beer when Belgium is mentioned, it's certainly not all that Brussels city has to offer - though it's only natural that you'd want to sample some of the local goods. You'll also find plenty of history and culture, from fascinating museums and architecture to colourful festivals, parades and parties - a far cry from the notion that all Belgium has to offer is some of our favourite lagers!

For example, a visit to Brussels affords you the opportunity to experience Europe in its entirety in just a couple of hours. That's because the city plays home to the an attraction known as Mini Europe, a park where all of Europe's countries are represented in miniature so you can wander around each country in just a matter of minutes! With mini versions of Europe's most famous landmarks - from the Eiffel Tower to the Leaning Tower of Pisa - you'll be able to snap shots of some of the world's most incredible sights without paying to fly there.

Conveniently, Mini Europe is located at the foot of the Atomium, a model created in the shape of a crystallised molecule of iron that has been magnified 150 thousand million times into a massive cross between a sculpture and a work of architecture. Visitors can ascend the piece on escalators to visit exhibitions encased within the work of art's spheres, as well as the unique restaurant in the uppermost sphere, which is called Chez Adrienne.

Once you've taken in the wonders of modern technology, you might be up for a little bit of history. There's no better place to learn about the history of Brussels than its historic Old Town sector. You'll find everything there, from stunning Gothic buildings to the city's Grand Place, which was a marketplace established in the thirteenth century, as well as the mesmerising Galeries St Hubert, an arcade with a glass roof that is stocked with theatres, shops and cafes.
