. One might think that creating a website and having a good product is enough, and twenty years ago they probably would been right. Twenty years ago however, there were only fifty sites on the internet and it was relatively easy to find what you needed. These days you have to sift through a cesspool of products before you can even come close, and if you are running an internet business, SEO can save you a lot of time and it may even save your business.

The first thing we will talk about is how SEO can help you. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and is essentially the use of the proper keywords at the proper time. Typically, it would be a good idea to use your keyword within the first fifty words of your article or webpage and at least once in the title as this is sure to bring quite a bit of traffic to your webpage.

The way it works is actually pretty simple. The search engine (Google or other) will see your website and it will crawl it looking for keywords. The search engine will then index your site accordingly and enable users to search for it. If a user searches for a keyword similar to the one you have used for your site, your page will appear near the top.

Depending on how well you chose your keyword, there is a chance your page will actually appear at the top, which is the dream of any webpage designer. If you want to choose the right keyword, you will have to make a choice. Either you can hire an SEO company to do the work for you, or you can use a program like Google Adwords to research the keywords that people tend to use the most.

If you really want to make an impact, you might try using the keyword in the URL. This can be a bit difficult to do at times, one reason being that the keyword is often already taken, or it has been identified as a powerful keyword and the price of using it is actually too high to take advantage of. Believe it or not, many of these keywords can reach several thousand dollars.

If you do identify a good keyword then it would be a good idea to make use of it immediately. In other words, beat the competition to it and soon enough you'll gain the page rankings you've always wanted. It won't be long before you're making sales like never before and pushing your way toward the financial independence you've always dreamed.

Be warned that you won't always be able to use the keyword in the URL. You will often have to settle for what you can get, and if that is the case, you will need to use the SEO as best you can throughout your webpage. On that note however, there is one thing you need to be very careful of.

You don't want to saturate your webpage with keywords. Doing this will likely end in Google banning your webpage from the rankings and it will be difficult for you to start again. In any case, so long as you follow the basic rules you should come out on top.
