Also, the enterprises can now invest in superior technology as money is not being spent for the purchase of mobile devices.

2. Employee The workforce of an enterprise that follows the BYOD concept has more control over the features of the devices being used in the workplace. Since he/she is more at ease using a personal device, it directly leads to better productivity in terms of business for the enterprise. Moreover, the employees can now also use personal apps in their devices. Sometimes, this leads to deployment of better technological applications that are not provided from the workplace.

Hazards of BYOD

1. Employer When adopting the BYOD strategy, an enterprise has to resign to the fact that data & information will not be as secure like it would have been if the mobile devices & apps were under the sole control of the enterprise authorities. The enterprise also has to pay for maintenance of the personal devices of their employees, even if mobile technology is used by the employee outside his workplace & beyond his/her working time. Security professionals have thus termed the BYOD concept as Bring Your Own Disaster or Bring Your Own Danger.

2. Employee Since an enterprise makes sure that proprietary information is safe from the workforce, it often leads to leaking of the personal data of an employee. Moreover, if the mobile devices are damaged while using it for professional work, the employee concerned has to pay for repair charges. This leads to additional personal expenditure.

Despite its cons, it is true that BYOD has changed the face of enterprise mobility. The Bring Your Own Device business strategy is soon going to be made compulsory in enterprises of all sizes.
