Broadband Providers In Uk Declare Excellent Profits And Plans For Further Investment In Yorkshire
Broadband providers in the UK are expected to meet the government to discuss means through which to improve web connections in rural areas
. An announcement by the KC Company revealed a plan for investment in Yorkshire of 4 million for quicker broadband in Yorkshire as the UKs MPs prepare to meet with broadband services providers for discussions on broadband accessibility in rural areas. The UKs environment secretary reportedly told the Yorkshire Post that a meeting to discuss how improvements for ease of web access can be made a priority will be planned to stem the rising tide of youth leaving rural areas because of the problem. The KC broadband company plans to invest 4 million into quicker broadband for East Yorkshire, according to the companys chief executive.
The announcement made yesterday, means that Kingston Communications will inject that amount into improving its broadband networks. The money will mainly be spent on upgrades to its network in order to provide enhanced broadband services to more people and businesses in the area. Out of the total sum, the company intends to use 2.8 million in the upgrading of its local network infrastructure and a further 1 million will go into enhancing faster broadband connectivity to customers in the East of Yorkshire villages.
Kevin Walsh, the companys chief executive said during the announcement that most of KCs customers had reported a need for faster and more reliable broadband and the company had continually improved its services to meet the increasing broadband needs. The company has regularly topped the broadband speed league tables as one of the best broadband services providers in the UK.
The new investment is intended to provide a platform for the launching of new, faster and efficient broadband services as the CEO envisaged. This investment plan comes in the wake of the companys, Kcom Group, strong annual results. Kcoms yearly results showed an impressive increase in profits by 64% to 29.4 million when compared to its profit of 17.9 million in 2009.
Kcoms earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization improved to 69.8 million as a result of reduced operating costs, despite increased pension costs; reported the company. The company drove down its debt to 116.8 million from 157.9 million in the last fiscal year. This new investment will connect isolated parts of North Yorkshire to a fibre-otpic network and the Moorsweb, a community broadband group, received 50,000 to invest in bringing faster broadband to the area.
