Broadband a Powerful Way to Stay in Touch

In general, broadband refers to telecommunication in which a wide range of frequencies is available to transmit information. Because a wide band of frequencies is available, information can be sent on different frequencies or channels within the band concurrently, allowing more information to be transmitted in a given amount of time.

Different criteria for "broad" have been applied in different contexts and at different times. Its origin is in radio systems engineering, but became popularized after Media One adopted it as part of a marketing campaign in 1996 to sell their high speed data access. There are different broadband versions namely:

Telecommunication - Broadband in telecommunication refers to a signaling method that includes or handles a relatively wide range (or band) of frequencies, which may be divided into channels or frequency bins. Broadband is always a relative term, understood according to its context. The wider (or broader) the bandwidth of a channel, the greater the information-carrying capacity

Data Communication - shares the same description as telecommunication, with a slight variation that data transmission is done over a fiber optic cable.

DSL - digital information is sent over a high-bandwidth channel on a single pair of wires.

Ethernet - signal been used for various types of data communication, a very effective method of communication for internet users.

Power Line Communication - used for various types of data communication, especially for remote control.

While using the above mentioned, which deals with the Internet, we always look for a faster broadband that will give us a faster speed. The two major ingredients are Audio and Video. Every audio track or video seen or heard is said to have a broadband that grows to more than 20 million. Broadband will not replace traditional media formats as they exist today. But it will emerge as a new source of fragmentation.
