Broken Laptop Screens Can Be Replaced!

Nothing is worse than a dead pixel. Just one tiny little pixel sitting there, that doesn't quite work properly. Except for two dead pixels! A broken laptop screen can be replaced, to restore your valuable investment to a condition reminiscent of its former glory. Finding replacement laptop screens can be a difficult task, especially if your laptop is an antiquated or rare model. However, if you have a reasonably generic laptop, with a large number produced, then the chances of finding a replacement laptop screen is reasonably high.

When looking for a replacement laptop screen, the first thing that you should seek is the model number of your laptop. This is printed somewhere on the rear, or the underside of the laptop, often near the battery compartment. This information will let you know what type of laptop screen to look for when seeking a replacement screen. The broken laptops that you use to replace the broken or faulty screen on your laptop must be identical. While certain laptop models will allow for interchange of screens, it is much easier to use an identical screen. This ensures that the fittings and mountings will work properly, that you won't have any display driver issues, and that the electronic circuitry will all connect up.

Once you have found your model number, find the make of your laptop. This is often very visible on the front or underside of the laptop, and lets you know the manufacturer of the laptop.

From here it is time to start hunting for a broken laptop with an issue other than a faulty screen to replace yours with. If you look hard enough you may also find a laptop with a bigger hard drive, some more ram or a Wi-Fi card that you can also pop into your machine. It's amazing what people deem to be useless to them. Try searching around local computer stores, junk shops, and on Internet auction sites. Eventually you will find a laptop that looks just like your one.

Now comes the difficult part. If you are technically sound, and able to disassemble a fragile and expensive piece of electronic gadgetry, you should be able to figure out how to replace the screen from the multitude of guides and the wealth of information available on PC Technology forums.

If the thought of opening up a laptop causes your hair to stand on end, now is the time to find a friendly computer repairer, and offer to pay them a reasonable sum of money to swap the laptop screens for you. A good repairer shouldn't shy away from this, and if the work is of a reasonable standard then your new laptop screen should last until the next time you happen to drop it from your lap onto the patio.

Remember to take good care of your investment, and don't abuse it. It's a fragile and delicate piece of electronics, with high-speed motors, laser rays, and should be treated with respect. Hopefully by now you should have all the knowledge you need about replacement laptop screens so that you will be able to find a replacement screen, and eliminate that pesky dead pixel.
