Brother QL-560 Label Printer Review
The standard office printer seems to waste so much time and labels because you have to change the contents of the paper tray and seem to always have extra blank labels left on the sheet of labels. The Brother QL-560 is a dedicated label printer that helps prevent a lot of frustrations like this because it offers the option of printing on a variety of clear to colored film, making a banner from the continuous labels, printing barcodes, inserting the date and time, and using the address book that can amazingly import addresses from your Outlook.
No ribbon or toner is needed because the QL-560 is using "direct thermal" technology and also because of this technology the print speed is boasted tremendously. This printer will print up to 56 labels per minute and regular address labels can be printer around 36 per minute.
Many oblong die-cuts, CD labels and other round labels can be printed because of the printer's capacity to use labels up to 62mm wide. This QL-560 label printer can also print very neat work using the clip-art pictures and half-tone images because of the 300 dpi. If you choose to get more complicated you can do even more on these labels than just printing landscape or portrait, or controlling the brightness and contrast; you can control things like the dither and "error diffusion" that improve the quality of the image.
With the software, P-touch, you can design your own label with the normal things like ready-made clip-art and other images and also the more advanced fancy fonts, decorative borders, circles, lines and rectangles, mirror printing, ready-made calendars with the capability of earmarking dates, tables, barcodes even for ISBN, and screen capture. Any of these items can be added to the ready-made templates for quick and easy results.
Be sure to include the necessary add-ins as you install the software because then you will be able to have the Brother P-touch icon appear in the Excel and Word applications. When you have the P-touch icon in these toolbars then you can click on what you want in your applications on your label and then click the P-touch icon and that program will open and automatically insert what you have selected.
The Brother QL-560 is a very simple printer. When the cover it raised you can easily drop the roll of labels in and pas it under the print head by using a small lever and then it is ready to print. There is an on/off switch, an Advance button that positions the label for printing, and an electric Guillotine button that will cut the labels on demand. If you are printing continuous labels this cutter has a mode that you can set automatically so it will cut off each label faster and neater than a pair of scissors.
The P-touch software can be very easy to use if you choose to use the default setting but if you want to get more detailed and sophisticated then you can use the more advance settings to make your labels even more appealing.
