Brow Lift: Know About The Risks Involved In The Procedure
A brow lift is a surgical procedure which is aimed at improving or removing the appearance
of creases on the forehead, lines between the eyebrows and high on the nose bridge, a sagging brow and lifts the eyebrows. Basically, it minimizes the lines that form due to expressions and improves how one looks immensely. An evaluation by a qualified doctor is necessary before undergoing surgery.
The Procedure
Incisions are usually made well within the hairline thus helping with the concealment of any scars or bruises that may form. Sometimes, the incisions are made within naturally occurring creases in the face to help lessen the visible impact of the operation. Sometimes an endoscopy instrument is used to facilitate the brow lift. The instrument is inserted into one of the incisions to help with the correction.
Possible Complications and Risks
As with all other forms of surgery, there are risks that accompany a brow lift. The most common complication that may arise from this is an infection. The reality of it is that an infection can be prevented through the use of sterilized equipment and post operation actions.
Antibiotics are supposed to be prescribed to patients to halt the development of infections. Skin problems might also appear such as scarring, bruising, swelling and others. Scarring can be corrected while bruising and swelling will go down with medication and compresses. Slow healing of the cuts is also a probability and this needs to be monitored well to prevent further problems.
Nerve injury is also a possible complication or risk with the brow lift procedure. This may result to possible permanent paralysis and weakened mobility. Desensitization, numbness or itchiness may also occur at some point after undergoing the method of augmentation.
Discomfort or pain can also occur after a forehead augmentation and the surgeon may prescribe light pain killers for it. Slight bleeding may also happen but this is not a common occurrence as with some blood clotting at the site of the incisions and the places where tissue or fat were removed or corrected.
The eyes may also be affected by the brow lift surgery. Dry eyes and irritation in the area may be expected for some individuals. Disorders in the optic area may also be aggravated with the use of this method of augmentation. On the other hand, incorrect positioning of parts of the optic area may also ne enhanced by the method which may result to another operation.
