She contracted Edward H. Bennett - the famous architect - to build the fountain.

The fountain itself is said to be symbolic of Lake Michigan. Rising more than seven meters in height and surrounded by sea horses, this awe-inspiring marvel is one of the largest fountains in the world. Measuring 85m/280ft in diameter, its powered by three pumps that give life to 134 jets. It runs on an hourly 20 minute display that starts small and reaches its climax with a water height of up to 46m/150ft. this phenomenal display is best viewed at dusk, where music and animated color schemes accompany this veritable symphony to make it an experience worth seeing.
