Build Me Up Buttercup Lyrics | 2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted Lyrics

The Build Me Up Buttercup lyrics were written by the two head songwriters of the band The Foundations, Mike dAbo and Tony Macaulay

. Colin Young sang the lead vocals. The song lyrics themselves delve into a man begging a girl to not break his heart.

The British soul band, which recorded very briefly in the late 60s and early 70s, is known mainly for three of their biggest hits, one of them being Build Me Up Buttercup. The song was restored and re-recorded in the 80s when Alan Warner took an interest in rereleasing the Foundations catalog.

Lead vocalist Colin Young also re-released the song in 2003, in dedication to the police force in Surry and in memory of a murdered school girl, Amanda Dowler. The proceeds of the song went to a trust that supported the girls family.

Build Me Up Buttercup is also featured in numerous TV programs and films, including Kevin Smiths Mallrats and Theres Something About Mary.

The song is also considered the Anaheim Angels unofficial anthem, a song which is traditionally played right after American classic, Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Other sports teams have similar anthems, but with different songs: Boston traditionally plays Neil Diamonds Sweet Caroline, while the Yankees play Frank Sinatras New York New York.

Rappers Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dog wrote the 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted lyrics for Tupacs eighth and final album, All Eyez On Me. The album was released in 1996.

The songs lyrics concern Tupac and Snoops run-ins with the law and prison. Tupac and Snoop stood in different areas in their lives around the time of this recording: Tupac had just been released from an eight-month prison sentence, while Snoop raps about his upcoming trial. The song, as well as an album, became a dominant presence in the 1996 Billboard charts.

Soon after the albums release, Tupac Shakur was shot in Las Vegas, outside of Suge Knights nightclub. He died at the age of 25.

Shakur endured a rough childhood, born to a single mother and raised occasionally in homeless shelters. Going through a creative outlet and getting bit by the acting bug that got him through those hard times.

His love for acting soon turned into Shakur entertaining thoughts of a music career. He was initially hired as a roadie for the Digital Underground. The contacts he acquired there lead him to be signed to his first record contract with Interscope.
