Well, first, it is no mystery why most network marketers' businesses grow at a snail's pace or not at all. It is also no mystery why so many network marketers are frustrated.
It is because they are doing exactly what they were told to do to build their downline. Yes, you read that correctly.

You join an MLM with promises that by doing what they tell you, that you will build your downline faster than you can imagine (and, in fact, that your downline will practically build itself). You are then told to build your "list of 100," host parties, give out product samples, and to sell the business opportunity to all of your friend, family, neighbors, co-workers and anyone else who will listen to you.
What you probably discovered is that this builds your downline very SLOWLY, and that even among those whom you did get to join your business that they drop out after a month or two. No wonder you are screaming that you want to build your downline faster.
So what's the answer? How do you build your downline faster?
The answer is to generate leads where the vast majority of other network marketers don't look for them. You want to FORGET fishing in the pond of your friends, family and co-workers. You also want to stop looking for prospects by selling the business opportunity your company offers.
What you want to do is ATTRACT leads who are looking for a solution that your product can provide to a problem or an issue that they have. You want to position yourself as an expert.
When you lead with the product (the solution) to a a specific issue, you will attract people who are already looking for what you have. You will attract people who will want to consume the product you have, and whom will be loyal to your product and will not drop out when an ostensibly better business opportunity comes along. This is how you build your downline faster.
So how do you do this? You want to create a lead capture page that solely mentions the solution you have a problem (or the answer you have). When people submit details via this page, you want to give them a free giveaway that provides them lots of good, quality content (not a disguised sales pitch). Then, as you build your list, you want to develop a relationship (and thus a trust) with your list. At that point, you will see yourself able to build your downline faster and better than you ever imagined.
So don't continue to chase prospect, twisting their arms as you try to sell them on your company's business opportunity. You want to have people chasing you to get into your business. Do this, and you will build your downline faster than ever before.
