Patients population is getting bigger everyday and they need help and aide for them.
Being a physical therapist is of course a very challenging career, as well as fulfilling. You are in a position to make better lives for you patients. You will learn to have fun doing different treatments and also evaluating, diagnosing and treating disorders.
You will find you have three options available to you if you are going to have a career in this field. It is all up to you, if you want a full time therapist or you can be a therapy assistant or you could find a job as a physical therapist aide. In most cases, the differences are within the licensing requirements which is very important for the path you are choosing.
Usually the therapist will develop the a treatment plan and see to it that it is carried until all goals are completed. The treatments usually focus on improving mobility as well relieving pain anfd then restoring mobility.
A therapist determines a patients ability to be independent and be able to re-assume his duties at work as well as at home. The therapist will also explain the expected outcomes and benefits to the patient.
The educational requirements of a physical therapist requires that he has earned a masters degree or as doctorate degree in the field of study. Of course he will study biomechanism, neuro-anatomy, physics, chemistry and biology. As well as others required in different states.
After all of the above he must also be able to pass a licensing exam in order to become a licensed practicing physical therapist.
The assistants are the ones who carry out the plan according to what the physical therapist has pre-determined to be needed by each patient under his/her care. Usually a combination of several stimulations, exercises, massages, electrical stimulations, paraffin baths, hot and cold packs, traction and ultrasound.
Becoming an aide therapist, you must have an associate degree from an accredited physical therapist program. Which requires algebra, anatomy, psychology, biology, and chemistry. Usually, the aides work under the management of the therapist and his assistant.
In the field of medicine especially the physical therapists, the driving factor is the ability to aide patients. So if you are going to enter this field you will need lots of preparation for the challenges that lie ahead.
