Building Construction Sunshine Coast – A Booming Industry

Building Construction Sunshine Coast A Booming Industry

The Sunshine Coast in Queensland has had probably the longest building boom in Australian history. There's a good reason for that. It also has a highly competitive, innovative construction industry, powered by a highly motivated business and consumer market that demands (and gets) top quality. The Sunshine Coast construction story is a saga of success.

The Sunshine Coast: A brief history of building in paradise

The Sunshine Coast is the central Queensland coast, from Caloundra and famous Bribie Island in the south north to Noosa, inland to the Glasshouse Mountains in the south and Black Mountain near Noosa. The Sunshine Coast started modestly as a holiday home building area. People loved it so much they kept coming back until they decided simply not to leave.

The area soon attractedhome builders and buyers who knew a good thing when they saw one, and were attracted by the lifestyle. By the 1970s, the early types of building were giving way to more permanent residential buildings, and the infrastructure was catching up with demand from the real estate market and the tourist and commercial sectors for improved facilities.

The first boom

The Sunshine Coast was also attracting real interest from developers as well as building contractors and building construction experts. The first stages of a boom became evident during the mid 70s. Queensland became the place to build, and the Sunshine Coast had what was by the standards of the time a big building boom. By the 1980s, the Sunshine Coast was overtaking the other big growth centres in south east Queensland in terms of upmarket building.

Birth of an industry

South east Queensland became the biggest growth area in Australia in the 80s and 90s. The building trade, developers and real estate industries were in no doubt about the potentials for the Sunshine Coast, and this was the start of the modern Sunshine Coast building industry.

The Big Boom

In the 90s the Big Boom, was building in a year as much as almost the previous century. This boom had initial detractors, mainly Queenslanders concerned about preserving the heritage of the area. That issue solved itself when it was found that the new home builders wanted the real Queensland lifestyle, and were just as concerned with quality of life and environment as they were. The big boom created the Sunshine Coast as it now is, and there's not many complaints about lifestyle from anyone.

A bright future in a big market

The Sunshine Coast remains a place where the real Queensland and its incredible quality of life are magnets to Australians and people from all over the world. The demand for top quality has if anything increased over time, and just keeps increasing. The Sunshine Coast has proven beyond doubt it can mix top qualityresidential building with commerce, and lifestyles with heritage and tourism. The Sunshine Coast is an ongoing triumph of a truly Australian lifestyle mix. The future will be even better.
