As a result of which most of the common utilities installed in these buildings like

the ventilation equipments, heating system equipments, security related electrical installations like the CCTV cameras etc need to be controlled by a competent computer based control system that can organize all these building equipment data generated, monitor them and control them for increasing the efficiency of the energy consumption and ease of the building occupants. Thus the concept of the Building Management System came into being.

While the pros certainly outweigh the cons, it would be interesting to note that as far as the cons are concerned there is only one that someone can think of and its the cost involved in the installation of the Building Management Systems. The inventory of benefits includes

The optimization of the internal living conditions of the building (like the central heating or air conditioning)

Efficient use of energy (like the water distribution systems can be regulated as per the need)

Improved lifespan of the various mechanical and electrical equipments (like the overuse or neglect of the heating equipments might cause them irreparable damage).
