Building Strong Brands - Myth Or Fact

Ask an advertising agency or printing company regarding how to create a brand in Malaysia and this is often what you will most hear:-

"All you need to try to to is to print and distribute 5,000 leaflets to begin building a sturdy company brand!"

"You would like a web site in order to whole your product, services or company!"

"Standardize all the colours for all your printed materials and your web site to make a brand!"

"Print booklets, flyers and posters to create your company complete!"

It all sounds straightforward enough, does not it? If building a brand is concerning printing 5,000 leaflets, a couple of booklets, hand out some thousand flyers and posting posters everywhere you can, the big query would be this - why on earth would huge successful brand names like Nike, McDonalds, Kaspersky, Adidas, Nokia pay billions of dollars to build their brands?

Why aren't they only printing out posters, making websites and putting up posters like everyone else?

And renowned author of 'Building Strong Brands', David A. Aaker, has this to say concerning it - there are 3 levels of brand awareness in the general client's mind.

The first level is complete recognition: Familiarity and liking. At this level, consumers do not necessarily remember where they initial saw the complete name. They are doing not keep in mind why it is completely different from all alternative brands. They have a faint memory of ever seeing it...somewhere. Of course, they'll not even keep in mind what it's that you're selling or providing! How astonishing, huh?

On a personal level, several years back, when individuals talked about an Anlene milk powder business, I had no inkling as to where I saw the whole before that. I can't recall why it had been any different from alternative milk brand names. If someone asked me for a recommendation for milk powder, Anlene would never have been at the tip of my tongue.

The second level: Whole recall and the Graveyard. At this level, consumers CAN remember the brand name when a sort of product or service is referenced. For instance, names like ING, Great Eastern Life or AIA would return to mind whenever someone mentioned life insurance in Malaysia. However customers need a trigger in order to recall the complete name.

The third level: Whole name dominance. This is when in the buyer's mind, the name of the complete replaces an entire sort of service or product. When asked regarding a photocopier, Xerox instantly pop into their head. If somebody was littered with a headache, Panadol comes to mind.

As mentioned in previous newsletters, the promoting world is obtaining intensely crowded now. It is tougher than ever before to make a strong brand name - but it is not impossible.

So as to make awareness and facilitate consumers keep in mind your brand, it boils down to at least one necessary issue - frequency. You don't stop selling yourself and reminding your customers or potential customers about what you're and what it is that you're doing. By understanding our neuron system, you'll understand a lot of regarding why we tend to would like to continuously repeat ourselves.

There are approximately one-hundred billion neurons in a healthy adult's brain and each of them connect with approximately another ten-thousand other neurons. The role of neurons is, in a nutshell, to assist store memories.

If you walked past a bakery and smell freshly baked bread coming back from the oven, multiple neurons react to it and associate the smell of freshly baked bread with the bakery. And they all set a pattern. The following time you smell something similar, the neurons in your brain will react in the identical way.

While not creating things sophisticated, suffice to say that you will want to be subjected to the same smell over and over again so as for the memory to stick. It all depends on the quantity of times the signal comes through, how frequent this neuronal pattern is fired up.

Based on the on top of, we tend to will safely say that it applies to our promoting efforts as well. We have a tendency to need to make robust, necessary messages...frequently! That's as a result of cells live and they die. The cells that when helped create the neuronal pattern will die off and also the memory might break down.

Does that designate why massive corporations NEVER stop advertising? Despite how established and well-known their complete names are, they perceive the human brain too well...they need studied consumer behaviour and know that folks forget and they need to stay reminding them.

Therefore, ask yourself - will 5,000 leaflets help you build a strong brand? Will a single website facilitate strengthen your position within the trade that you are in if you probably did not update it often?

And last you forget, let me remind you that there are at least some thousand new brands being created each single day. What are the probabilities of your complete standing out among they all and a lot of in the future if you probably did not keep at it?

With the web, it is nearly not possible to build a strong whole name while not going digital too. Well, this can be one thing that we have a tendency to are going to look into in the future newsletter.
