Burj Khalifa Armani Hotel

Out of all of the astounding man-made buildings in the world (Empire State Building

, Eiffel Tower, Statue Of Liberty etc.), there now stands one that truly towers over the rest and that ladies and gentlemen is the Burj Khalifa Armani Hotel (or Burj Dubai as it was known whilst construction was taking place).

Taking the spot as the biggest man-made building ever made (an accolade previously held by the Taipei 101 building in China), the Burj Khalifa stands at an inescapably epic 828-metres (2717 feet to be exact) from bottom to tip and cost a record breaking $1.5 billion to create. It officially opened back in January 2010 after a six-year construction period filled with disapproving talks of delay, rocketing expenses and troubled whispers of bankruptcy of the main contractors Samsung C&T. But, not only did the building manage to come through unscathed but also now stands as a testament to determination and willpower (not to mention that it also happens to smash an astounding 15 world records at once).

Inspired by the symmetrical wonder of the desert plant Hymenocallis, the giant, sky piercing structure consists of a total of 160 habitable floors with an extra 46 spire-floors used strictly for maintenance. There are also two huge car-parks that expand through the bulk of the multi-floored basement. Those 160 floors consist of hotel suites (designed by a certain Mr Armani may I add), apartments, malls, restaurants, an observation deck (obviously), offices, corporate lobbies as well as communication materials for broadcasting. Oh, and did I forget to mention the $220 million fountain that sits just outside the front? Well would you be happy with a little just say it does spurt in front of such a huge construction!! . How about, 6,600 lights, 50 colour projectors, classic Arabic music that accompanies the display and spouts of water reaching around 275 metres in length and 150 metres in height. Why not right?

As if that wasn't enough, they also added a 27 acre 'Burj Khalifa Park' which includes several water features, luxurious gardens, trees, winding walk-ways and a 'water room' which includes a series of pools and water jets. The Arab nations sure do know how to make an impression.

My husband has been there, my friends have shown me countless pictures of it and I've been planning to see the building myself since it opened earlier this year. It goes without saying that if you're ever in or around Dubai, the Burj Khalifa Armani Hotel is definitely something you should witness before you leave. It seems you won't be disappointed.
