The theatrical trailer was attached to screenings of Step Up 3D and Easy A. The first TV spot premiered during the season 2 premiere of Glee on September 21, 2010. A 3rd TV spot also aired the following day during Dancing With The Stars, later followed by a 4th TV spot which aired during MTV's The Jersey Shore. Several teasers have been released for promotional purposes including the Etta James classic 'Something Got a Hold On Me'. Ronni Chasen murder

Ronni Chasen, a respected Hollywood publicist, was at the film's premiere Monday night, November 15th, celebrating with others at the premiere. Around midnight, Chasen left the premiere to supposedly drive home to her house in Westwood. At around 12:28 am, Chasen was driving past Beverly Hills Hotel when multiple shots were fired into her Mercedes-Benz. Chasen crashed her car into a light pole as a resident ran out to help her. Police arrived at the scene to find Chasen badly wounded by the gunshots. She was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment but was later pronounced dead.[15]

Christina Aguilera will make her theatrical film and musical debut as the lead character, a "small-town girl with a big voice," who finds work at a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club, inspired by Bob Fosse's Cabaret and European Burlesque entertainment.[12]Burlesque started shooting on November 9, 2009[5] and ended on March 3, 2010. Cher is also set to co-star in the film, her first starring role since 2003's Stuck on you and first musical film.[1] She plays Tess, a former dancer who struggles to keep the nightclub open and serves as a mentor to Christina Aguilera's character, Ali. Aguilera's love interest will be played by Cam Gigandet, and Stanley Tucci has been cast as the nightclub's manager. Alan Cumming, Kristen Bell, Eric Dane, and Julianne Hough have all signed on to the film as well.[5] Antin revised the script originally written by Diablo Cody.[13] which was later revised and edited by Susannah Grant.[12]

Before Kristen Bell was confirmed for the role of Nikki it was reported that several actresses were considered for the role including; Jessica Biel and Lindsay Lohan. Burlesque is the most expensive movie in Screen Gems history with cost of 55 million.
