Instead, you must know that you don't need to be perfect, give yourself the freedom to mess up a lot. Just get started! You'll never reach the goal you have if you don't make it and start getting on a path towards it.

Here's what you need to do: Learn about your body. Make it a goal to learn a little more each week. Learn about blood sugar, the insulin response, how your body processes food, etc.

As you learn each new thing, apply a little of it to your life. Maybe you'll read about insulin next, and realize that you shouldn't eat so many refined carbs. So start slowly taking them out of your diet. Don't try everything at once, introduce small changes and make them habits.

You'll see results much faster when you take the stress out of it, just relax, and allow yourself to be imperfect. Changing small things in your diet and how active you are can have big effects, but only if you're consistent. And the only way to stay consistent is by changing things a little at a time. Diving into a diet head first will just make you give up and lose heart.
