There are a lot of misconceptions about these scholarships, which causes the student to ignore other financial aids and focusing on applying for scholarships. These financial aids are far more abundant and are easier to acquire compared to scholarships.

The most common misconception about scholarships is that there are billions of dollars of scholarships which are not given to students every year. This made the students think that these educational grants are very easy to acquire, thus keeping them confident when applying for one. Unfortunately, the applicants for grants are overwhelming and almost all the money that is reserved for education is spent every year.

Keep in mind that there are only limited slots to these grants and if you are too confident about being picked easily, you are going to the wrong direction. Applying for as many programs as you can is very important because this will greatly increase your chances of getting free money for your college.

The second myth that we are going to this is about the free ride scholarships. Most students think that when they are picked as a recipient of the program, they will never pay anything until they finished college. Unfortunately, the money that you will receive from these grants is based on your family's annual income. Although there are a few grants that will pay for all your educational costs, the competition is too tough and if you are not competitive enough, you will most likely waste your time.

And finally, we will be discussing the thought about grants being only given to excellent students. Millions of students are missing the opportunity to study for free because they think that scholarships are only given to students who have showed great performance in academics. There are thousands of scholarships available to students who excel in different fields. Athletes, poets, writers, and students with other special skill have their own respective programs which they can apply even though they do not have high GPA.
