Buying The Right Computer For You

The first thing to decide is desktop or laptop

. Most people would automatically say laptop, especially with everything going wireless and it being so easy to set up anywhere, but the truth is, not everyone needs a laptop.

Some people only use their computer at a desk in their office at work or home; they don't travel and they don't need to mobile computer. These people should buy a desktop because they have no need for a mobile computer.

Desktops are not an old or outdated computer; they are just as innovative as laptops with new touch screen technology being used by most big-name computing brands. There are many things that desktops are capable that laptops are not.

Desktops have more memory for larger programs that laptops simply cannot support. Because mobile computers are so small, only so much storage and RAMs can fit onto the motherboard and hard drive areas. Because of this, larger programs will only make a mobile computer extremely slow.

If your needs are photo, video, or music editing software, or any other large programs, a desktop is the right choice. They can support a lot more RAM and still run at a fast speed when you're running other applications.

Another benefit of desktop computers is the fact that the entire family can use it with ease. Mobile computers are really made for one person, but if you have kids in school a desktop will be useful for school projects, and much cheaper than buying every kid their own laptop.

Most family computers have a different profile for each person, and this can take up a lot of space. That is why the hard drive on desktops are designed to support more memory, and they also do not run out of batteries like mobile computers, allowing for full days worth of use without a problem.

If you do need something that is small and portable for yourself, then a laptop may be exactly what you need. Some people have jobs that require travel and having to work on the go, and all of their work information needs to go with them.

If you do travel for work, the odds are you need the internet with you at all times to stay connected and updated on everything. A desktop ties you down and constricts your work to one place, but a laptop allows you to go anywhere at any time and have everything you need at your fingertips.

The laptop is for individual use, which is perfect for traveling business people, who do not need to share their computer. Since the mobile computer is so small and versatile, it can go on the plane, in the cab, in bed, at breakfast, in a lobby; pretty much anywhere you can fit your mobile computer can fit on your lap.

This versatility allows people to get their work done everywhere, so even when they aren't traveling for work, but are in the cab on the way to the office; they can still pull it out and get some work done before getting to the office. Or if some loose ends need to be taken care of at home before you go to bed, you can simply pull out your laptop in bed and take care of it immediately.

The mobile computer also allows for mobile entertainment. While on the plane, in your hotel room, or waiting for your boss in the conference room, you can pull out your laptop, put in headphones and watch a movie or television show, or listen to music without bothering anybody else.

Almost every college student has a mobile computing device of some sort. These individuals constantly need to be connected to the internet for information, communication, and entertainment.

Everything has to be fast, small, and moving with them, and mobile computers offer everything they need. Since students are constantly moving from classrooms to dorms to commons areas, they have to take all of their stuff with them. The computer holds their class notes, their term paper, the library, and their study music.

When deciding what type of computer to buy, evaluate what your needs are for a computing device and decide what is the best choice for you.
