CDFS is a Linux based program that sends files and documents on CD drives like normal files. It expands to CD File Systems. This is the best in the business for Linux and it is being used by many people all over the world.

Linux is a very famous operating system and it has spread far and wide. This program was discovered way back in August 1999. It was solely made for Linux computers and Microsoft systems cannot run CDFS formats. The only possible way to open them is after conversion into compatible formats.

It has plenty of file extensions. The extensions are associated with Windows computers and disk systems. There are extensions for all kinds of files. Some of the common types are backup files, text files, spreadsheets, bitmap images, multimedia files, audio-video files, graphic files, game files, configuration files, compressed files, unknown file types, etc. There are thousands of file types and many more are created each day and it is hard to keep count.

CDFS was mainly created to unlock ISO files or images. Now there is software which can take care of that. Though it was designed for Linux, it is not in-built in all Linux computers. They have to be downloaded and installed in the individual Linux kernel.

After mounting files using this program, the files are listed separately as individual tracks. The track types that are supported are Red Book, White Book and Yellow Book. Red Book is an audio type which runs WAV formats. White Book is for MPEG videos while Yellow Book shows mountable ISO image files.

The limitation of it is there only a few track types and other types are tagged as unknown file types. To overcome this is no easy job and it is very complicated and that is why most of the people do not prefer this. This only used by a small audience which has just specific needs and they are catered.

So, the best way to make use of this is to update it every now and then to find further track types and that way we can use all file formats using this program. There are ways to make it work on Windows systems too but that is a whole process altogether. In conclusion, one can say that CDFS is a useful tool in the area of computing and it works wonders in spite of being a bit rusty.
