VW have been producing the modern day VW Caddy since 1996, the 1996 model was based on SEAT's Ibiza platform. The current model Caddy has been around since 2004, the new Caddy is based on the VW Golf and VW Touran.

The Caddy model line up consists of a Panel Van, Window Panel Van, Kombi (spartan seven-seat version), Caddy Life (7-seat family version), and a Camping version called the Caddy Tramper or Caddy Life Camper.

The 2004 model receive a minor facelift to bring it in line with VW's latest design philosophy but a new Caddy has been due for a while. In the 1st week of November 2010 Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles officially launched the new Caddy panel van and MPV range.

The new Caddy which will be available UK wide including Volkswagen Vans Aberdeen, has its own micro website, the site includes an interactive guide to the van as well as a game. To help promote the new Caddy VW have taken out adverts on the Discovery network's survival and adventure programming.

Head of Marketing, VW Commercial Vehicles David George said, 'The Caddy is one of our best-selling model ranges in the UK, and we needed to promote all the ways in which the new Caddy is even better than last one, while also demonstrating very clearly that at Volkswagen we always strive for excellence'

The advertising campaign around the new release carries the phrase "Brilliant Made Better", this message is cleverly relayed with the adverts featuring a factory production robot placing a cherry on top of the Caddy.
