So you about to visit Calahonda with a view to buying property there and want to know a bit more about Calahonda before you arrive

. Calahonda is a coastal holiday town situated between Fuengirola and Marbella, just 30 minutes by car from MALAGA AIRPORT to the west on the N340/A7 road. Founded as urbanization in 1963, Calahonda is situated in Mijas Costa between Fuengirola and Marbella and within a 35 minute drive of Malaga International airport.

A very peaceful yet convenient area of the Costa del Sol, Rural flavor and coastal lifestyle are two of Calahonda's most attractive features, because, although the area is developed, its founder was keen on green areas, large plots and limits on apartment buildings. Thus, the area has grown in a generally peaceful and rustic fashion. While the vast majority of Calahonda's 600,000 square metres is devoted to villas, townhouses and space for four golf courses, selected areas have been dedicated to providing residents with every amenity imaginable. There are, therefore, three commercial centres Calahonda has numerous bars and restaurants to suit all pallets including Chinese, Indian, Italian, Mexican, Swiss and of course English for that all day breakfast or Sunday Roast. El Mirador overlooks La Siesta Golf, a 9 hole course with driving range and practice putting green. Miraflores Golf, Mijas Golf and La Cala Golf are also within a short drive or bus ride from Calahonda and the El Mirador apartment. Calahonda is also en route for the bus services into Marbella to the west or Fuengirola to the East with a regular all day service. The urbanization of Calahonda stretches from the coast up to the hills, 300 metres above sea level with excellent panoramic views to Gibraltar and the Atlas mountains in Africa. An excellent location for families as Calahonda has its own International School, C.I.C. - Calahonda International College where childrens ages range from 4 years to 18 years and set in a wonderful area of pine trees. There are also two large parks and a large childrens play area within the urbanization. For garden lovers there is even a garden centre situated at the beginning of Calahonda with all types of tropical flowers and plants for gardens or terraces alike. All in all Calahonda is a very international holiday resort as well as having a very diverse international community who now live in Calahonda on a full time basis.
