This is then how caller ID information is transmitted to the receiver's line. Although some pieces of information are not really reliable, since these are just based on the information generated by the phone switch and the telephone service provider; authorities have ensured the trustworthy operation of these entities.

While the caller ID is a standard feature in most telephone services nowadays, the extent of the information displayed on the receiver's end is dependent on the service provider.
