Can A Linkedin Job Search Result In A Job?

If you are currently looking to change jobs, then you will probably do what most

job seekers will do and that is use the online job search engines to help you find openings. But, the problem with that is that you are seeing jobs that are currently being seen by hundreds, if not thousands of other people, and chances are that your application and your resume will get lost in the masses.

What Is Linkedin?

If you have been spending all of your time fooling around on Facebook, then you might be interested to find out that there is a better way to spend your online time that will be more likely to result in you finding a new job or moving up in your chosen career. Linkedin is a unique social networking tool that will help you to get in touch and stay in touch with people you have worked with, those you have gone to school with, and even experts in your chosen field.

Once you have established your online profile with Linkedin, you can then do a Linkedin job search within your network or you can set up your profile so that potential employers will be able to contact you.

What Should You Put On Your Profile?

Your profile on Linked in will be a lot different than what you might put on your Facebook profile, particularly if you want your profile to be eligible for a Linkedin job search. Your profile should be professional and it should also be honest and complete. Even a small fib can easily be found out by employers and that certainly won"t help you to get a job.

Another thing to keep in mind when you are setting up your profile for a Linkedin job search is that you will want to use a different email address and a different user name than what you might be using for your more recreational online purposes. In other words, make sure that your career information is completely different and separate than any other identity that you may have used online. This is because almost all employers will now search for you online before interviewing you, just to see what you are up to in your spare time "" and you may not want that.

What Type of Network Should You Set Up?

When you are using this method of social networking for a Linkedin job search, your goal should be to create as high quality of a network as you can and that means padding out your network just to get higher numbers is not beneficial. Although you may have some pride in the number of "friends" that you have on Facebook, in order to get the most out of any Linkedin job search, you will be better off spending your time to find colleagues who can help you in your career field, rather than just names. In general, a Linkedin job search can really work well as long as you put in the effort to create a solid network.
