I really love Internet marketing and one of the reasons why I love it so much is because there are so many different diverse ways for you to make money online.
Some people like to build their own product and market it themselves from their own website. Other people like to become affiliate marketers, in essence promoting other people's websites and products. Still other people like to make money by selling advertising on their own websites and in fact that's what I'd like to talk about in this article today.
One of the easiest ways to get started selling advertising is by signing up for the Google adsense program. Basically they will give you a snippet of code that you put on your website which then shows advertisements automatically whenever somebody visits your website.
It really doesn't get any easier than this because you don't have to go out and find people who will agree to advertise on your website, Google takes care of all of that themselves. All you have to worry about is creating an interesting website that people want to visit.
The downside to this program that most people find rather quickly is that it's very difficult to make a lot of money this way. I know people who have hundreds and even thousands of visitors to their website each and every day but they don't earn any money because none of those visitors click on any of the advertisements and you don't get paid unless somebody clicks.
This raises the question; can you make money with adsense? The answer is a resounding yes, but you have to do it correctly. The secret is to create websites that are laser focused on very specific things. That way the advertisements that are shown are equally specific.
As an example, if you build a website about purple shock dog collars, that's a very specific item. The only person that's going to come to that web page if somebody who's looking specifically for a purple shock dog collar.
If they come to your website and immediately see lots of ads for purple shock dog collars, the chances are incredibly high that they're going to click on those ads and you're going to make some money.
On the other hand if you build a website about dog training, that's way too broad. Somebody might come to your site looking for a purple shock dog collar but see advertisements for dog training DVDs which they aren't interested in at all.
The other secret is to keep your website as simply designed as possible. You don't want a lot of fancy graphics and lots of other links leading away from your website. What you want is simply the content of your site, and the adsense ads. That way there's less to distract the person which increases the chance that they'll click on your advertisement and hence earn you money.
So you see, it is possible to make some serious Internet marketing money with the Google adsense program as long as you keep things highly targeted and simply designed.
