Canada's Greatest Natural Wonders

For travelers who enjoy visiting destinations that have amazing natural wonders

, Canada is the perfect choice. Canada is home to many geographical wonders that are both awe-inspiring and beautiful. If you are planning a vacation and would like to see beautiful natural wonders, below is a list of Canada's natural wonders:

Fossil Forests on Ellesmere Island, Nunavut: The fossil forest on Axel Heiberg Island was a wetland forest approximately fifty-five million years ago. Today, the temperature is -10 degrees, but back then it was about 18-degrees. Silt-filled flood waters preserved such incredible flora as cycads, dawn redwoods, palm trees, and bald cypress.

Manicouagan Crater, Quebec: The Manicouagan Crater is the fifth-largest crater in the world and has multiple rings. It is a historical wonderment as it is likely the place where many species disappeared 210 million years ago. There is a lake within the inner ring that can be seen clearly in satellite images.

Haida Gwai Islands, British Columbia: Some people refer to the Haida Gwai Islands as the 'Galapagos of the North' because of the prevalent fauna and flora. SGang Gwaay offers a peek into the practices of an early Northwest Coast First Nations village where magnificent totem poles can be viewed. Haida Gwai Islands is a UNESCO site.

Niagara Falls, Ontario: Canada and the United States share the amazing Niagara Falls. On the Canadian side you will find the marvellous Canadian Horseshoe Falls. You will find the beautiful American Falls on the American side. The Horseshoe Falls are a stunning 57 metres high. As well, over the Crestline, 168,000 cubic metres of water flows each minute during day time hours. In the past, people have traveled the falls by tight-rope, barrel, and kayak.

Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick/Nova Scotia: The Bay of Fundy is famous for its high tidal range. The Hopewell Rocks formation on the edge of Shepody Bay is one of Canada's great natural wonders. The tides carved the Hopewell Rocks into 'flowerpot' shapes. You can kayak to see the Hopewell Rocks at high tide and walk to view them at low tide.

Northern Lights, Northwest Territories: Also known as Aurora Borealis, the Northern lights are spectacular. This natural wonder is the result of free floating particles being drawn to the magnetic field around the poles. You can view such spectacular colours as red, light green, gold, and pink.

Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Alberta: Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981. It has been used for more than 5 000 years and is the largest and oldest preserved bison jump in the world. As well, it is the last resting spot of bison that had been driven over the cliffs by the plain Indians who butchered them on the ground.

Singing Sands Beach, Prince Edward Island: The shape of the quartz sand that makes up the Singing Sands Beach may be the reason why people hear singing when walking the white sand on the beach at Basin Head.

With such phenomenal natural wonders, it is no wonder Canada is such a popular country to visit.
