New Canon nb-2l battery in a discharged condition must be fully charged before use. It is recommended that you fully charge and discharge your battery two to four times to enable it to reach its maximum rated capacity.

A new NB-2L digital camera battery needs to be circulated (fully discharged and recharged ) three to five times to reach its optimum performance.
